STILL building the 383, any help? PLEASE!!

Hey guys, I'm getting close to finish, ( I hope) but there is still a few unanswered questions I have. Here is a little background:
I have a GEN I Lt1 in my '93 z28. I've had the heads fully p&p, Lunati forged crank, KB forged pistons, eagle H-beam rods, bluprinted and balanced, splayed main caps, comp cam #XR27HR-12, comp 1.6 RR, MSD cap & rotor,6Al ignition, and bbk headers. I think thats it. Now I know I need the bigger TB, injectors, fuel pump, and pcm tune, but I'm not sure what else I might need. I have the EGR blocked off on the intake, and think i have found the correct bolts for the reverse flow coolant line, and I'm still trying to figure out how to relocate the alt. properly. ANYONE that has done this setup or similar PLEASE reply with some tips, tricks, or advice to make this go smooth and to ensure that I dont screw this up after all this time.

Thanks in advance!!

What is a "Gen 1 LT1"? What is the "reverse flow coolant line"? Do you mean the steam tube at the back of the heads?

Are you trying to relocate the alternator with or without the A/C and PS?

sorry.

I was under the impression the 1997 and earlier lt1 was refered to as a GEN I. It has a slightly larger bore, shorter stroke, and different firing order I beleive. Could be wrong though. About the steam pipe, once again I could be wrong. Can those holes be blocked off? This is my first project and I'm learning as I go; I really need some help.

Oh yeah, I live in FL so the a/c is almost a must. I can live without power steering, but it would be nice. Thanks.

The LT1 is a "Gen 2" small block Chevy (SBC) engine. It was used in the 92-96 Corvettes, the 93-97 F-Bodys, and some B-Bodys. All LT1's have a 4.000" bore x 3.48" stroke and the same firing order as the first SBC from 1955. There was no LT1 after 1997. You may be thinking of the LS1, which is referred to as a "Gen 3" SBC, that replaced the LT1 in the F-Bodys and Corvettes. That has a different bore x stroke and a different firing order, but it is not an LT1 and has very little in common with any other SBC, other than the cylinder bore center spacing.

You have an LT1. Not to be confused with the LT-1, which was used in the 1970-73 Chevies, and was a Gen 1 SBC.

You need the steam pipe on the back of the heads. It has to be there to let air bubbles and water vapor out of the back of the heads. Without that pipe, you are likely to overheat #7 and #8 cylinders.

Who is assembling the engine for you? What parts did you buy for the valve train? Did you replace the oil pump? What do you plan to use for an exhaust system? What are you using for a distributor? What is your estimated flywheel HP, which you will need to know to size your injectors and fuel pump? What timing set are you using? What water pump?

re

I beleive the valve train is as follows: 5.7 pushrods, the cc# above's matching springs with manley valves, and cc 1.6rr. replaced with moroso oil pump, bbk headers, y-pipe, and will have a cat back probably from borla. Using the msd for the ignition and distributor. est. bhp is 425. and i currently have the stock water pump. I cant seem to find the bolts to that steam pipe either.
Will the stock manifold be good enough? fuel rails? any other info you might need to help me out will be quickly provided, thanks in advance.

You don't have 5.7" pushrods. That's the connecting rod length. Stock pushrod length is 7.2"

The intake manifold should have been ported by the person that ported the heads, to match the head porting. If it was, it will be fine. Stock fuel rails will be fine, as will the stock fuel pressure regulator.
