Stereo help..

I have a '94 Z28 with the factory Bose stereo, my problem is the passenger side door speaker blew out and its driving me nuts. My questions are, where can I get a new speaker? If I go to the dealer, it will probably be like $250 for the speaker if they even have it I would think. If it is a lot to just buy the one speaker can I just buy like an aftermarket replacement speaker like a Pioneer or something and hook it up to the little amp thats in there with no problems? Also, what size is the speaker? Thanks.

Best bet is to get a new in dash CD player, and four 6.5"(oversized if you can find them). You'll have to use the existing power and ground behind the radio to power up the new one, but run new wires to each speaker. The rears are ridiculously easy to do, but the doors are kind of a bitch because you have to run wires through the door boot.

Bose kinda sucks because if you replace part of it you have to replace it all, especially speakers. You can get by with an aftermarket head unit for a little while, then the amps will **** themselves. But unless you're gonna replace that blown speaker with a direct bose replacement, the rest of the stereo is gonna have to go.

That does suck. I already have an extra Pioneer head unit, but as stupid as this sounds, I really like the stock one, and it sounds great, or at least it did! I didn't want to go thru the trouble of rewiring, especially since its been below 10 degrees here for past couple of days. I'll try to hold out til spring by just listening to the drivers side speakers.

you could unplug the blown speaker and leave it the way it is.

You could also check with Billy Graham's auto salvage and see if he has any Blows (or Bose) speakers laying around.
