Steering linkage wont budge.

Title says it all, I'm trying to instal my Hooker LTs, and im having trouble with the driver side, oil filter is off.... spark plugs are out, but I can't fit past the steering linkage. it wont come off even when i take a hammer to it. I've taken out the bolts that are holding it together but nothing seems to work. any tips/tricks to get 'er done?

Replies ASAP would be great!

I tapped it up on the bottom portion of the linkage and pulled it out if that makes any sense.

Right, soak it and try to get a screwdriver or something in the groove and pry that thing off. I just went thru that with a 95 Camaro and that's how we got it off.
