Steering linkage removal

I'm trying to remove the linkage, so I can fit my long tubes in.
Somebody tell me how to do this.
I can't even get the locking strap, off the protective sheath.
I need to know how to get the sheath off and what bolts to remove, to
enable me to get the linkage off.

Thanks

Thanks, but I really don't want to break it. Haynes manual says
pop it loose. (yeah)

Shelbyville area.

Thanks

Re: Steering linkage removal

Ok, plastic sheath is off. I removed the bolt just above the top knuckle and the pinch bolt, just above the steering gear. Is this right?
Now what? Slide the top up the shaft? That's not working well.
Some help please!!

Thanks

Re: Steering linkage removal

Make sure you undo the bottom bolt on the linkage or you'll be sitting there for a while.
