Steering Binding...

Steering Binding...
Guys I need some help...
I recently put a set of headers on the car. I had to remove the steering shaft to get the drivers side in. Got it all back together and now the steering binds while I am backing up. I know The shaft isn't binding on the headers or anything else. I was wondering if the bolt on the top of the shaft has to be loose to let the lower shaft ride up and down on the lower one. BTW... Checked the fluid level, it looks good.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
HF

I'm having the same d@mn problem. I found your post while doing a search to diagnose my problem. I too have headers but I've only had this problem for about six months and my headers have been on for about 3 years. It mainly happens when I'm backing up and turning the wheel pretty sharp. Let me know if you've figured out how to fix it.

Could the motor mounts be worn, and when you get into reverse it rocks the tranny one way and the motor the other, and the header grabs the steering shaft?
