Steam vent tube seals.

Has anyone tried using copper washer instead of the stock seals for the steam vent tube. I’m having a hard time getting new ones because they’re out of stock at the dealer.

Re: Steam vent tube seals.

I just did heads on a Z28 and used regular oil drain plug washers and a little copper spray. No leaks so far.

Re: Steam vent tube seals.

You can get them in the self help section of autozone, pepboys, advanced auto: Its in those red packages hangin on the wall that say "HELP!" on them, they have bolts, and all that jazz...they are called crush washers, and they have lots there. Look for them, thuogh i got mine from the dealer, I would also use those, remeber one before and after the steam fitting on the head, 2 on each side for a total of 4. Also make sure to put some thread sealent on those bolts to stop leaks, same sealent u use for water pump bolts.
