Steam Pipe Question (Not About Removing It)

Does anyone know if the steam pipe can be routed into the heater hose ports on the water pump? I changed the radiator in my S10 conversion and it does not have provisions for the steam tube and the rest of the heater hoses are currently blocked off. It was running to a Y in the upper radiator hose but the new radiator required me to use the stainless steel hose kit so the Y is out.

re

I would think you would want it on a non pressured hose like a return side.

Technically the whole system is pressurized so I don't think it should be a big deal, but that's why I'm asking.

Yes, but the pressure is directional. As long as the line you want to tap into is going the same route then I don't think it'd be a problem. If they're going the opposite ways then you may have problems.

The pressure is always higher between the discharge side of the water pump and the radiator and lower between the radiator and the suction side of the pump. The pressure cap is always located on the tank that feeds the suction side of the pump so that it does not inadvertantly open from the higher pressure. That said, you should plumb return lines to the suction side of the pump to help out the flow.
