Cranking precautions?
Cranking precautions?
My engine has been sitting for a bit with no valve covers on it (need tool to clearance them) and my mother desided to use the blower in our carport. What should I do to this motor before I crank it? I am not talking about mud in the heads or anything just maybe some debris or leaf particles. Engine is out of car now. Thanks
Just clean up the heads with a rag as best you can, wiping around all the rockers, valves, springs, etc. Then you can change the oil after running it for a little while. You should be fine, a little dust won't hurt.

What types of "foreign objects' in an engine cause spun bearings? Should I maybe just turn it over alot with the starter and change the oil then and maybe run really thin oil or something?
