Steam Pipe Question
Steam Pipe Question
Hey guys, I have an LT1 swapped into a 3rd gen trans am. I wanted to run this by everyone and see if this is a problem. I currently do not have heat on the car yet, so the heat return line is capped on the waterpump. Now my radiator hose dosnt have a spot for the steam pipe, can i just hook the heat pressure line into the steam pipe directly? Or will this cause problems like the pump working agaisnt its self?
Thanks!
Thanks!
The LT1 radiator has a connection for the steam pipe (93-94 goes directly there, 95-97 goes through the throttle body first). Inside the connection on the radiator is supposed to be some sort of liquid-vapor separator. You might want to consider using the LT1 radiator on your 3rd Gen, so you can run the system the way it was designed.
Lacking that, you want to connect the steam return to the lowest pressure point you can find, which means a line that returns to the radiator.

Yes - "The LT1 radiator has a connection for the steam pipe (93-94 goes directly there, 95-97 goes through the throttle body first). "
He has a 3rd Gen, so there's no steam pipe connection.

That's why using an LT1 radiator is the first choice.
