well maybe, but personally I bought a $100 Walboro pump by itself (many vendors sell the pump for this price) and did the install myself. I reused the bucket, and all I had to buy was another sock for it.

The GM filter sock uses 70 micron media. The custom Racetronix filter sock uses 30 micron graded media which is the same type included with most other Walbro kits. Gerotor pumps require a finer filter media for longer pump life. An off-the-shelf Walbro pump will not seal in the bottom of the bucket properly. You pay for what you get...

PS. Your link provided states "leave the O-Ring off the botton, it won't fit. A.R.E. actually sells a pump with a machined bottom part so it does fit with the o-ring." This was never A.R.E.'s product but rather a Racetronix one. This includes all DP systems as well.

Re: Stay AWAY from the Granatelli fuel pump 'kit'

I just ordered the Racetronix kit yesterday along with the wiring harness. I have an inline NOS pump already on the car. Should I REMOVE this booster pump or leave it on ??

I have a built 383 and a TNT F1 kit jetted at 250 rwhp. Would just the racetronix intank pump be fine ?

BTW, does anyone have a picture where to cut a "trap door" in the hatch of the trans am to get to the fuel pump ? ( 97 LT1) I sure dont wanna drop the rear again and the fuel tank.

Remove the in-line pump.
DO NOT USE THE TRAP DOOR METHOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REMOVE THE TANK AND FLUSH IT OUT WITH WATER A FEW TIMES TO GET RID OF THE RUST ETC. LET IT DRY AND PUT IT BACK IN.

Agree! It's not that hard to drop the tank. Do it right, do it once!

I was looking under my car yesterday at the exhaust shop. The rear has to come off to get the tank out

But I would rather take the time to do it correctly then see junk clog up the new pump and blow up a very expensive motor half way down the track.

but still @ the idea of removing the tank

Thanks for the info

Hey this is Leathal's buddy. I am doing the same your are with the Moser and the Granatelli. After blowing a gasket about the pump, I called summit. After being on hold for ten minutes, I talked with their tech department. Then they patched me to Granetelli after being on hold for five more minutes. This is what he said and I quote "You can use the pump, but you do not need the pump houseing". So, I'm in the middle of it. Hope fully it works, if not I', going to go postal. Plus, Granetelli fails to mention that the pump is made by Walbro. Walbro is stamped on the pump. I probably could have bought it from napa for alot less. I'm never byeing a Granetelli product again!!!!!!!!!

I too used the same bucket 85,000 miles ago...

And I used the rebel method via the top/trap door. Still running without any "issues" mentioned by others.

Thankfully this info has been posted before. I went for the racetronix setup and it fit and worked great.

I bought the Racetronix kit for exactly these concerns...I want it done right the first time.

I just haven't gotten up the courage to throw the car on the rack and drop the rear/tank and install it yet.

Depends on your luck I guess, I cut a trap door, tossed the bucket, basically everything your not supposed to do.
I did have to go back into my trap door a couple of times due to clamping issues with the fuel line but once I got it under control its been fine.
26K and counting since installing it. I used the Walbro pump as well.

Was it this one? PN: GRM-GM722-2
I was going to buy this one myself, since summit is only 30 minutes away.
