Starting problems

When I tried to start my car Monday after the long weekend, it took about 3-5 min. to start. And then after sitting a couple days, It did the same the thing. It turns over, but just won't fire. After it finally starts it runs fine. I really don't know what the problem is, but I driving it to the airport next weekend, and it will sit all weekend. So, I would like to get this fixed so it doesn't die on me at the airport. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just shooting from the hip but it sounds like fuel starvation. Electrical usually doesn't disappear after a week of sitting then come back. Fuel could be draining back into the tank and the hard start may be "re-priming" itself. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I just talked to one of my buddies that is diesel mechanic, and he said it could be a check valve in the fuel line that is bad and letting all fuel back to the tank. Or maybe the fuel pump is going bad. Is there a way to check which one it could be? Thanks for all the help

Put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what it does. I bought one at the auto parts store for $30. It should go up when you first hear the pump come on. Then if you turn the key off it will hold pressure for a while. If it goes to 0 in under 5 minutes you have a bad pressure regulator or the valve could be bad like they said. This would also show if you have any leaks of if the injectors are having problems.

If I turn the key on and off a couple times (to let the fuel pump prime the system without using my starter), my car will start right up. Is there a valve somewhere that is broken? Or bad fuel pressure regulator? Thanks for the help

If i drain my fuel lines when i change the fuel filter or such it takes 2 or 3 key turns to prime it up enough. Without a fuel pressure tester it will be hard to say exactly what is wrong. Each part that it can be has specific symptoms so if you can get some readings that would be great. The fuel pump or its parts could be bad. The fpr could have gone out. Injector leaking and plugged lines and on and on.
