starting problems

Every once in a while when i try to start my car, a 93 camaro z28, it doesn't want to start and i hear this big pop. When it does this, the car will start if i hold the gas pedal down some, but sounds like crap when it starts and shakes and sounds like it's flooded or something, but clears out when i put the car in gear and move. This happens every once in a while and it seems like it happens a few times in a row then doesn't happen again for another couple weeks. It doesn't seem to matter whether it is cold or warm out also. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

Thanks

It can be a load of things. Dirty/clogged injectors, Spark plugs, shoot when my opti was going bad it would do what you described as well. Maybe not a bad opti, but a rotor? Who knows, but maybe someone with more knowledge can advise you some more. If not you are going to have to run it through a diagnostic. See if you had a laptop and an AKM cable you could do it yourself. Or if you can get your computer close enough.

Re: starting problems

If it was the opti wouldn't it keep doing it when the car was running and moving though. Also I hope it isn't the opti because i just had it replaced a couple of years ago at a shop. It could be clogged injectors, I ran some injector cleaner (Seafoam) through it but it didn't help. Anyone have any other ideas?
