Starting issues..
Ignition Troubles
Well, I have become completley stummped.....my 95 Z absolutly will NOT start in park, turn the key and it trips the GM VAT crap(does not turn over), Throw it in Nuetral, and wait for the Security light to go off and it starts right up most of the time, 1st though was the key is bad, but then agin thought It wouldn't start at all,.thought 2 was the Ignittion cylinder is bad, nope it's good, just had it replaced in Oct, Thought 3 was the Relay is going bad or is possibly out, havn't checked that yet ran out of sunlight...so question 1 being..Anyone having or had the same trouble from their Z...and Question 2 being...How in the world can I bypass the GM VAT system(Security Light)? if that's possible...heard of people doing it but no one can tell me how it's done exsactly....HELP PLZ!!...good lord can't wait till I get my 00 T/A now..

Re: Starting issues..
did you check the ignition switch or no??? not the actual ignition cylinder, the electrical part. Also the MLP in the transmission they have a tendency to go out but doesnt make sense with the vats triggering. The only way i know how to bypass the vats is to get lt1 edit or tunercat and disable it. thats what most people do. let me know man. havent really had time to check out my car but ill let you know if i find it. oh yeah when your car starts does it shift ok or no because the trans stuff is powered through the ign switch so the solenoids will lose power and it wont shift right.
Re: Starting issues..

You have to measure the Ohm resistance in your key first. Then take a trip to radioshack and buy a resistor of the same value. Wire it in on the steering column side of the module and you're good to go.
Re: Starting issues..
Thanks for the Bypass help Phil....and as far as it being the ignition switch, that shouldn't be bad, it was replaced shortly after I bought it...but im double checking everythig whhile the Lower Dash assembly is all off..and as to your question as to if it shifts ok when it starts...when it starts and running, it shifts fine, just like it always has since i've had it....im thinking I have a wire groundng out or lossing it's connection somehow in the Colum, starts fine now when the Wheel is 2 clicks up from the all the way down position.......Oh and Phil...this may sound dumb but How would I test the resistance in the key?
Re: Starting issues..
Ok...well I had the Dealer give me som info on my lil problem, and they were telling me that the VAT system is getting error codes from the key, and told me I could A) have them re-work the VAT system, or B) Bypass it and not have to worry about it all together....hmmm..geee let me think about that one.....I think im going to bypass it and not have to worry about it....
