Starting Issue: Followed by no power to anything
Starting Issue: Followed by no power to anything
Well guys looks like I have an electrical gremlin to route out. When I went to go start my car this morning all I got was the initial click from the starter solenoid then bam all power went out. The radio turned off, interior lights cut, everything out. Weird thing is when I popped the hood to go take a look by the time I got around to the front of the car the "Key in ignition" chime. After that I noticed my radio clock was reset as well as the Trip Odo but the car started without a hitch.
Any guesses? I'm thinking its maybe a bad ground, I checked the terminals of the battery and there were fine. Obvious things to look over checked out ok as well.

I think I paid 30~40 bux for one from the dealer...installed it and no more problems.
Well I did a few searches about the ignition switch to no avail. The problem persist even if I turn the key back to off, still no power to anything untill the unknown event restores power back to the car.
I also checked for a loose ground wires, the accessory relays, loose fuses and for a loose power connection with no luck.
Any other guesses guys?

I think I am right, but when you move the swith to the start position, it does turn everything off. Like if I turn the key to start but dont have the cluth in, the radsio and lights go offf. I guess it isi anticipation of the current draw from the starter, to give it enough to spin the engine.
The power does come back on after you return the swith to the run position from the start position?
Does sounds like a swith problem though

Nope the power doesn't come back when I return the key to the run position. The power comes back oddly after an event that I haven't been able to pinpoint. Like I posted above it came back the 1st time while I was walking to the front of the car. The key was still in the ignition at the time in the Run position with the door open, hence the 'door open, key is still in' chime.
