starting issue

I was given a 96 z-28, since receiving the car I have installed an lt1/6-speed combo. It will run for about a minute then quite, when running I can pat the gas and nothing happens. I pulled the plug's, and they were drinched with gas. Put in new plug's, with the same result's. The exhaust is not hooked up yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: starting issue

Well it sounds like you don't have spark so it could be a couple of things from the opti,, coil, etc.

Re: starting issue

My brother just went through the same problem. He wound up putting in a vats bypass and everything runs good now.

Re: starting issue

It won't start if it's a VATS problem.

Get a scanner and get any codes

Without the exhaust joked up you are confusing the oxygen sensors. Fix that first.

Check the fuel pressure.

Check for internal fuel leaks....leaky injector dumping fuel.

Re: starting issue

With an open exhaust the O2 sensors see alot more air so they tell the computer to add more gas to compensate. Close up the exhaust and that part of the equation can be eliminated.

Re: starting issue

Or disconnect the o2's and let it run in open loop.
