starting engine without tranny?

will the engine start with the tranny out and the wiring disconnected? do we need to hook up some or all of the wiring so the starter circuit will engage with pressing of the clutch pedal?

You should be able to. I watched an engine assembly race between Nascar engine builders and they did it. 20 min to assemble the engine and needed it to run for 1 min to complete the race. Also I think on some engine tests they just run them on stands. So I dont see any reason you cant do it.

Yes.

You can run your LT1 without the tranny, and without the wires connected to the tranny.

Ive done it a few times. Don't know if a code is set but it doesn't matter.

edit: heck, I didn't realize you had an M6. I don't know now about your clutch interlock. A4 cars can do it, I know that.
