Starter Squeals

I just had my tranny rebuilt and Mccleod clutch put in. Ever since it was in the shop for that, as soon as I turn the engine over, it makes a squealing noise for about a second as I fire it up. There is no problems performance-wise, I just want to get rid of that noise. A couple guys told me to shoot some wd40 up into it.

Any suggestions?

Did you try the WD40?

Have a friend listen to make sure it is coming from the starter. If so, i believe it sounds as though a bearing is going in the starter.

Well, I am not too sure what it looks like inside of the starter, and I didn't want to pull the starter off as I was involved in another project on my car. So I simply shot a few squirts of the WD 40 into a couple of holes on the underside of the starter. Nothing changed, however. I still have that noise.

I hope I don't have to replace the starter. It was working fine until the tranny rebuild, it doesn't make much sense to me
