Starter Removal

Has anyone tried doing this to a 94 TA? I got the bolts off and the wires undone but can't find a place to squeeze it out. The haynes manual says you can do it on the 93-97 without removing the foward exhaust pipe. (I would of already of unbolted the exhaust pipe but I don't have the right size in my ratchet set )

Try just pushing the exhaust over to the side...it should move a little.

Take out the bolt on the oil pan that holds a clip holding the tranny cooler lines, then you can move them to the side, but you'll still have to get it in the right position to slid it out.

Alternately, you can take the bolts off the lower bellhousing shield on the transmission (A4) and slide it out that way.
