starter prolbem ?

Question for you guys , I wrote a post last week about v. train noise with comp r lifters . So I put stock lifters back in and every thing look ok but tired to crank it over with the plugs out but the starter will crank for about 30 seconds when it starts clicking so I replace starter but same thing . The starter should spend like like hell with the plugs out,do you think it could spun a bearing? Also turn the crank by hand and it seems to be free.

Have you hooked up a voltmeter to the batter when you're cranking, to see how much voltage drop you get under load? My WAG (Wild-A$$-Guess) is that your battery is dead. hth.

Quick question: You say that the starter turns over for like 30 sec. then nothing, can you wait a few seconds and try again for another 30 seconds?
Or, is the starter done for after only 30 sec. just trying to clarify b/c even a good battery can only take so much before it will give up and need charged.

Just need a little more info...Thanks

Everytime i get the clicking it is the battery. I believe the only way to be sure is to take it to someone and have them test it. A bad battery can start cars for a long time but not hold a charge if you have to keep cranking or leave something on.
