Starter gone"?

Starter gone"?

last week the car would start to crank over and then a "miss" like you would hear a winding down noise, and then today after filling the gas up i go to start and it wouldnt start i must have turned the key about ten times then it started. Is my starter gone?

You need to check the teeth on the starter gear and the flywheel before you go jumping to replacing things.

If the teeth are broken on either how much would it cost for the parts?

depends if you got broken teeth on the starter or flexplate. Flexplate teeth being broke are pretty unlikely so a new starter is gunna run you around $140-$160 depending where you go. If it really is broken teeth on the flexplate then you're gunna have to pull the tranny off to get the flexplate off. Not fun

if the starter is bad, id just get it rebuilt, i got mine rebuilt for $55
