it did this once before when i first got the car running after the build. but earlier i started my car and it reved to 2 grand then gradually came down to idle. it hadnt been sitting very long since it was last ran, maybe 3 hours tops. also my fans come on when the car has been running for probably not even a minute. no matter if it has been sitting all night or if its warm and i go start it. any ideas? no where around here can scan it for free since it's a 95 they dont have the right plug...

 

I know of two reasons why the fans come on. Either the fuse for the AIR pump is blown or missing (on the same circuite as the fans) or the water temp sensor in the water pump is bad, unplugged or is the wrong sensor. Both temp sensors have different part numbers. I'm sure there are other reasons, but I can't think of them right now. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can step in.
A dealer should be able to scan the PCM, but it'll cost you. Not sure how much.
The idle problem could be a vacuum leak or your TPS not adjusted correctly or your IAC may be out of whack.

 

how would i go about checking/fixing the TPS or IAC ? im 99% sure i dont have any vacuum leaks. and iv removed my AIR pump so thats probably why my fans come on.

 

You can check the Ohm readings on the IAC and voltage readings on the TPS. This site might tell you how or you can buy a Haynes manual from any parts store that will give you the info. you need. It's possible the high idle also has something to do with your fans?

 

You can adapt a standard 12-pin ALDL connector to fit your 95 with two jumper wires (courtesy of Shoebox):

Also for your 95, as long as you have a good fuse in the AIR pump circuit, it will not set a code, even if you remove the AIR pump. So its still worth checking the fuse.
