Standstill...How bad for brakes?

I am about to order the linelock kit from thunderracing.com on monday. It is sort of pricey but it has everything i would need to install it. But i told my friend i was ordering it and he told me i'm dumb. He said why don't i just learn to do a standstill and save the money. I told him because i don't feel like destroying my brakes to do a standstill when i could just flip a switch and do it easier. So how bad is it to do and burnout with holding your brakes? Just want some other opinions so i can explain to my friend why i'm spending my money.

It just adds more regular wear and tear on your brakes, I'm gonna get linelocks sooner or later. Since you've got a 6 speed, it'll make things a lot easier on you too.

Your doing it the smart way. I never do that standstill stuff its too hard on parts. I just do a quick cleaning at the track cause I don,t want to burn up the brakes or be that hard on parts when I don,t need to.
Your friend is wrong, you are right so stick with it.

Only downside of line lock is your tires are gonna will wear out faster.

Brake stands are HORRIBLE for your rear brakes. Ruins pads and rotors quicker than anything. Do one long enough and you can easily boil the brake fluid and melt the dust seals and seals inside the caliper. The costs for rebuilding/replacing calipers, rotors, and pads can easily go higher than the price of that line lock kit you ordered.

See i knew i was right. I don't see it couldn't be bad for them. I think he just wanted to do it with my car. Besides it would be a lot easier with line lock.
