Question Is a stall converter needed for an HotCam install?

Well I would like to do both but at the moment I will be able only to do one of these mods at a time and I wanted to do the hot cam install first.

Agreed. it'll help a lot! What stall you plan on getting and what brand?

If you can only do 1 then do the converter 1st.

The last one I was looking at was the B&M holeshot converter. However I'm not done looking around and I'm not to sure which stall I really want yet.

i have not had good luck with b&m converters. personally i think their design is not as efficient as others on the market. very durable, but i went from a 3600holeshot to a pi vig stalled at 3600 and dropped 3/10's off my 1/4 mile times. you wont need a huge stall for that cam so look at slp, yank, precision industries, or tci. if you drive it alot look at maybe a 2400-2800 stall and make sure you have a good trans cooler to go with it.

Yes you DEFINATELY NEED a convertor. I had my hotcam for about 3 months without a convertor and it was a pita. The car jumped very badly when coming to a stop and idled very very low too. I would not recommend getting a B&M Holeshot as I had the 3k model and my first one failed. They won't hold alot of horsepower reliably anyway.

I agree, a stall convertor would help out alot. A B&M would be fine if you use your car as a daily driver and race often at the track. But a Vigilante can take alot more abuse and is a must if you plan to do alot of racing. Either way, a Vigilante would be the better choice, a 2800 stall would be perfect, as they tend to stall a little higher anyway
