Stainless header bolts in aluminium heads

I bought some ARP stainless bolts for my LT1 heads. I've recently heard, however, that stainless doesn't work well with aluminium, that it may corrode either the bolt or the head.

Comments?

Dissimilar metal corrosion can occur any time two different types of metal make contact with the help of a little moisture. Stainless is probably better than, not worse than, other types of metals. Your fasteners have to be made out of something! So I'll take stainless over standard steel any day. Just make sure you use the anti-seize like "redta" said.

i just got some afr 210 alum heads and went with some arp stainless header bolts.im afraid if you put antisieze on them they could eventually back out and may need to be tightened often which is a bitch if you have long tubes.

i just put some low strenght loc tite on them

So it should be either anti-seize OR loc-tite? I know the benefits of both but need to know for sure which to use.

Thanks!

I used the ARP 1" stainless bolts with anti-seize, and after checking a few times after the header install, found they never loosened up.

I wouldn't use loc-tite or anit-seize on header bolts. I just put em in and check them every now and then to make sure there tight.
