Stage 8 Locking Fasteners, what size?
Stage 8 Locking Fasteners, what size?
I'm probably going to put a set of Pacesetter LT's on soon, and I'm trying to figure out the best stuff to get to install them. Although they're a little pricey, I like the peace of mind that will come with the Stage 8 header bolts. Pricing them in Summit I see there's a 3/4" and a 1". Which ones will I need? I also see there's specific ones for the LS1, is there a specific set for the LT1 also, or just regular SBC's?
Thanks,
Keith

Go with the 1". At least that's what I went with. I screwed them all the way in , and the gap when it bottomed out between the head of the bolt and the head is thinner than the manifold flange thickness.
No specific LT1 set, just SBC.

You may want to give these a look also:

I think Summit carries them now.

Re: Stage 8 Locking Fasteners, what size?
I used the 1" when I installed my Jet Hot long tubes a few months ago. I wish I would have gotten the 3/4". The 1" was just a tad too long to clear one of the primary tubes on the passenger side. I ended up having to write Stage 8, and they sent me a replacement 3/4" no charge overnight
Not a big deal, but if I had the 3/4" from the start, I would have been able to finish the job and not have to wait for a new one to come.
My thoughts on the Breslin's? They look great and I'm sure they work well. The problem is that on the LT1, some of the bolts were very hard to get to with a wrench. That's why I got the Stage 8; so I could tighten certain ones with the allen wrench. You couldn't do that with the Breslin's.

It was cyl 4. I tried everything I could to get the 1" started, but eventually used one of the 3/4" Jet Hot provided until the 3/4" from Stage 8 arrived.
