stage 8 header locking bolts

Has anybody used these bolts.
Stage 8 Locking SBC Header Bolts, 3/8 X 16 - 3/4" long
If so did you like them and do they work. When I took my headers off I was missing two bolts so I want some good bolts. Thunder racing has them. Also 1" or 3/4". Thanks
Joe

IMO, the best header bolts are ARP with 5/16 head, and 1 inch UHL.

I'm with him.

Personally, I think that the Stage 8s and Breslin Split-lock bolts are overkill. I used ARP 1" header bolts for my JH install and for my MAC install, and have had NO problems with them backing out. If they do, just retighten them. Having to deal with an allen key, a washer, and all that stuff seems a little overkill to keep the bolts in the heads. Once they have heat-cycled a few times and are retightened once or twice, you shouldn't need to worry about them again. Also, some people have had issues with the Stage 8s with JHs because the primary tube comes close to the bolt hole.

I'll stick with my 1" ARPs for now.

ARPs all the way. I've never had problems and I'm not even using the 1".

Stage 8's aren't that bad guys...

You don't have to be a rocket scientist. After installing the headers themselves, a washer a lock that slides in is simple stuff.

I mean.. sure it's a little more work. But then you never worry about them again.

Don't get me wrong.. I know where you guys are comming from saying the ARP bolts will be fine. And I'm sure they are after a few heat cycles and retighting. But hell.. if two little metal tabs will give someone piece of mind.. I say why not.

Yeah, after going through a header install, the metal tabs and clips are a piece of cake. But that was on 1 5/8 headers. I could see how 1 3/4 headers might be a little more effort. But still, you put em on and forget em.

I thought my stage 8's were easy to put on if you cut some of them.

I am using the 1" stage 8s with hooker LTs and aluminum gaskets. They have been a little bit of a pain to install, (also had to modify most clips) but I will say overall, they're pretty good bolts.

i would recommend the locking bolts. I have them and they are easy to put on. I have them on my pacesetter long tubes along with percy's aluminium gaskets. definitely worth the money. -Michael
