SS Intake VS K&N CAI

I did a little bit of hunting, but didn't see anyone compare this. I would like to replace the SS intake on my car because it rubs on my SLP strut town brace (I did get the SS version), and in general makes accessing the top of the engine a pain.

I would assume that grabbing air from closer to the ground would in most cases be cooler, but wasn't sure if pulling air from the hood would have higher flow.

Any thoughts?

Re: SS Intake VS K&N CAI

I have had 4 97 SS Camaros and I did pickup some power with the K&N cai over the stock SS cai but the most power will be picked up if you switch to an LS1 style lid setup. However with the LS1 style you WILL have to clearance the underside of you hood.

Re: SS Intake VS K&N CAI

Thanks Areo. I don't want to have to modify the hood, so K&N here I come. I just didn't want to replace the stock SS with something less efficient. Thank you again!
