SS guys, any tricks to getting the SS airbox ti fit???
How exactly does it not fit? The box it's self has two holes to allow the bolts to screw into the treads on the intake. And the other end slips into the maf.
Now the maf and intake elbow are fairly flexable.. which should allow you to line up the holes for the bolts. Once you have it slipped in the maf and the holes are lined up, bolt it down tight. Let the intake elbow/maf conform to how the air box needs to fit to the intake.
It should be sitting well enough for the hood to close on it. Remember the box and elbow wont be perfectly square (at least mine wasn't and it was completely stock.) As long as it's all hooked up and the hood closes, then you're good.
On the note about the K&N vs SLP Ram Air... in terms of performance... there is a very negligible difference. I had the ram air, but it was old and cracked.. so I replaced it with a K&N for no particular reason... in my opinion the K&N stays colder because it's not sitting right on the engine.. so isn't as susceptible to heat soak. Again thats my own opinion based my my experiences with the two. Others may argue differently.

it should just drop right in. i can put mine in or take it out in 5 minutes. it does sit alittle crooked but it is bairly noticable.
and after screwing with other peoples cold air kits i will take my ss airbox any day. those things are a PITA to deal with lol
actually this year (we were gona do it last year) one of our goals is to do some track compairisons between the two

You should already have the two bolts you need on your intake for the airbox. You need to bend the erg metal tube towards the motor and turn the egr tube on the exhaust manifold around backwards and then run a new hose from it to the metal line. Also, if you have traction control, you will have to move it. Hope that helps
it's the elbow that is making it not fit......it does exactly that turns to the side, I have no AIR or EGR to bother with so...... should i just bolt the box down first and then hook up the elbow and MAF....it looks to me like their is a hole already drilled.
NOTE: I would just go screw with it, but i have to wait till this weekend so, i'm just trying to get ideas.

I had a K&N CAI and it had bends in it and a massive "pinch" right where it went around the radiator. I don't think a ram air set up is any more turbulent than the K&N set up. I think people that have had both agree there is no real diff in performance between the two set ups. If you want a ram air set up, get one. I love being able to say i have ram air. Plus now that i put TA style ram air decals on my hood scoop i think it attracts attention.
I wish people on this board that don't have any experience or proof would not bad mouth products. They just go off of rumors they have heard.

Shows what you know then! Go ask Brent94Z He has dynoed higher with the K&N over the stock POS LT1 SS Airbox. So you keep telling yourself that it's better sitting on top of that hot a** engine soaking up all that heat

There's a special MAF bracket that bolts to the block and holds the MAF and intake elbow in place so it doesn't push on the air box. Did you get the MAF bracket? If not, I have one that is brand new that I don't need($20 plus shipping). I bolted the SS intake setup onto the LT1 in my 68 Camaro and it didn't line up centered with the cowl hood so I sold most of the parts. The MAF bracket definitely helps take the stress off the airbox though.
