SS and Firehawk rear springs

I need some stronger springs in the rear and I dont want to lower it that much. I was wondering how much stiffer these springs are and how much if any would they lower the car over stock. I appreciate any help.

if im not mistaken only the front springs are stiffer on the ss/ws6 cars than regular z28's. the rears are pretty much the same. even most aftermarket (rear) springs for our cars arent much stiffer if any either. the rates the factory put them at are pretty much spot on perfect.

why exactly do you need "stronger" springs? they sagging? you wanna tighten up handling a bit? do you want to lower your car? or not?

if im not mistaken (again), i think the ss's ride maybe 1/2 inch lower than regular z's, if even that. i know 1le's are slightly higher than both though.

if you just wanna tighten up handling, id say get better shocks first

I have performer ias shocks in the rear. Im fixing to get the matching fronts which are ride height adjustable and come with the spring. They recommend an eibach pair matched to the rear shocks that lower the rear by 1.5 inches. Due to the fact I carry my tools around everywhere(approximately 60 lbs) I cant lower the rear that much.In a few months I will add the complete edelbrock suspension so I figured I would need stiffer springs to match the front. And I just need the rear and most springs come in a set of 4.

I just got off the slp website and noticed that stock z28 rear springs are like 25 for both and the SS rear springs are 62. I am just assuming that the price difference means that they are stiffer than z28 springs.

I also noticed the ss springs say level 2 suspension in the caption. I am assuming the z28 springs are level 1?

i think the best thing to do would be to contact slp to find out for certain what the difference is. either way, neither is too pricey.

btw, i had my z lowered with prokits, used to load up the rear with luggage and stuff, maybe not 60 ibs worth, but close, and drive 500 kms to and 500 kms back form toronto every week or 2. the extra weight really didnt lower the car anymore. if youre gonna drop the front, drop the rear as well, cause itll have that "raked" appearance. kinda ugly. jmo and hth

SLP 1997 Level II suspension specs:
front springs: Eibach 300-450 lb/in (53-79 N/mm)
rear springs: Eibach 115-185 lb/in (20-32 N/mm)

These springs drop the ride height approx .5" from stock. In my opinion they are very nice and offer better performance without going to the extreme drop that the regular Eibachs do. The ride is still good with them also. If you do go with these, keep in mind that you will need different shocks than stock. Either get the SLP valved Bilsteins, or go with some Konis, or Bilstein HDs, or Sam Strano's Bilsteins.

I think Ill measure the height with and without the tools in the back. With 86000 miles Im sure the springs should be worn a little. Then if I add the matched 1.5 drop to my shocks I may not have the rubbing problem I am worried about since they would be new and it may not ride as low as I originally thought it would.
