That neon has 215 hp, and 245 tq, impressive for a four cylinder, but not going to compare to a Camaro. They may try and say that weight is going to be their advantage but it weights 3,000 on the dot. Camaro is 400 lbs more, but over 60 hp more.

They run exactly what are LT1s do but trap in at 100 stock, people have gotten them in to the 12s with very little work. Chrysler has always had a turbo program that was awesome, this thing should rock.

215 hp is just for insurance companies...

bone stock srt4's are dynoing 220-230 fwhp.

you read right 220-230 Front Wheel HP

so its more like a 15 hp deficit and a 600-800 lb advantage.

If you are close to stock he has you spanked.

I'm not a big believer in magazine road tests, but the May 2003 issue of Car & Driver shows the SRT-4 running 14.1@102mph.... not too shabby.

I've seen the SRT's dynoing at 215 to 220 not quite 230 (although definately not outta the question) but most stock LT1's seem to be right around 225 to 235 for the autos and 245 to 250 for the 6 speeds (at least the cars I've seen dynoed) so the neon no doubt has a weight advantage but power??? I wouldn't be so sure. Manual vs Manual the F body would probably win if it were in good tune, most 6 speed LT1 cars ran high 13's at 100-102, the autos trapped about 98 or 99 mph. I think it'll be a good race....chasman I think you're underestimated that dodge up top. Unless you were saying the Neon would win. The SRT4 builds a good amount of power all the way to 6200 rpm so I would think that may be where it'd stand the most chance.

I am seeing numbers more in the 240rwhp for Autos, and 245-250rwhp for manual Z28's. If you were at 230, you have some issues. I am assuming his car is a stick, with that said, he won't be used to the car yet anyway, so there is a good chance he won't launch correctly and will probably mis shift. I think it will be you off the line, if you don't spin too much, because you know he is going to be spinning his front 2 with that much hp and inexperience with that car. Then even around 60mph til 100, I figure the 16G will be in its prime around that speed, then Z28 above that. Just run them to find out, once from a stop then once from a 70mph on up.

I made 280rwhp/312rwtq with a catback only...figure it gives what, maybe 10rwhp max (since the stock exhaust manifolds and cats are the real bottleneck). I trapped near 102 with the same mods as the author. Now, with the clutch slipping, i've only seen a 103.66 best.

On a track, the FWD guys have a hard time getting < 2.1 60' times. Outlaunch him and don't look back.

WOW, thats good power for just a catback. I know people that have numerous mods and can't hit that (but they're autos).

Yeah, and C&D isn't the best at getting good #'s out of a car either I'd bet with some practice and a real hard launch a good driver would be running high 13's or better stock with one. Sounds like a pretty cool little package Dodge made, but then again it's still a Neon. Even if the car was modded into the 12's I still wouldn't feel to comfortable crusing around in one Very nice performance for the price, and it's good to see kids have a domestic alternative to all the rice out there.

hypothetically only here, assumming you take one of these shoeboxes, and mod the heck out of it, and I mean everything, just what could you expect for 1/4 mile times?
