squealing from top of motor i think

squealing from top of motor i think

i have a 97 z28 pretty much stock with a squeal that gets louder when it heats up.i can't hear it when i accelerate but that doesn't say much and it still runs strong

check your belt.
have you spilt antifreeze or anything on you engine??

as a matter of fact a coolant hose got a hole in it so i will have too say yes

oh and i'm not sure about alot with this car i just got it yesterday for 2000 bucks because of the squeal the owner thought it was piston slap

okay so it is not audible until it warms up and goes with the rpms any help would be great please please please

Pull the serpentine belt and see if it goes away. This could be the alternator or A/C compressor. Also check the weep hole on the water pump, it's bearings could be shot.

It's on the lower side of the water pump. If it is oozing coolant, the pump is shot.

i will check that as soon as i get light outside and thanks for taking the time to help me out they should just make a sticky on squeeky lt1's thanks again

if you have a hose leaking coolant then it's probably getting the belt wet = squeeling belt

alright so it's not the belt and no leaking weep hole i got underneath the car and it sounds like it is coming from where the motor hits the tranny .i made sure the bolts were tight but i still get the noise
