Squeaking sound............?

I have a squeaking sound coming from the driver side rear what could it be. Someone told me it could be the shock or an exhaust hanger broke. Does anyone else have this problem? My car (which is a 1997 trans am) and my friends car (which is a 1999 camaro z28) both do it.

Please help, thanks

-James

It's an American car... it happens.

There's your explanation.

Naw i can be sitting at a red light and it starts doing it. My car does vibrate alot because of the exhaust, but it is an annoying squeaking sound.

The same thing happens to me.. Unfortunantly I can't find what it is, I've had friends crawling around the back that just couldn't find out what the hell it is, drives me friggin crazy, try the LS1 Tech section and the post might stick around a little longer.

Cool

Might try folding the rear seat down.If the sound goes away, then wrap electrical tape around the rear seat connector posts.Hope this helps.

I have hte same sound, and its worse when its cold.

I have crawled under and tightened anything that looked like it could be tightened and greased anything that culd be greased, and still have it, if you find out what it is let me know.

I tried that, actually my rear seat has been down for a couple of days now and it was doing it really bad today.

Maybe its like the F-body birth mark - no one knows where it comes from

The American dream

werd!

jack the car up... and turn it on... when it starts making the sound... i would just hop underneith and stick my ear in the direction it was coming from...

other than that...

uhh... does it sound like its coming from something that rotating? ie: drivetrain?

I can only hear it when driving, and I'm sure its not the little ***** in the cat, I hear those little fockers when idling sometimes.
