squeaking from front driver's side
squeaking from front driver's side
Something's squeaking when I go over large bumps/potholes at moderate speeds. It was there from a short while ago, but has been getting worse the past few days. The sound is a short, high-pitched squeak/chirp, almost like that of a metal birdcall. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure it's coming from outside the car around the front driver's wheel, but it's difficult to pinpoint, considering the car needs to be moving to hear it.
Ill give some suggestions. I would guess it is a bad strut or bad control arm bushings. One way to check is to jack up that side of the car and kick on the tire. If it shakes and moves its possible you have a bad a-arm bushing. That may squek. Another suggestion is the bad strut, It may squek or make a noise on bumps. Check those out and maybe some other bushings like sway bar or anything on the front. Good luck!
It's a common thing I think.I just hit the A arms bushing this morning with wd-40,and the squeek went away(for a couple of months anyway). Also if you pop the hood, hit the shock bolt rubber thing with a coulpe of hits of wd-40,that might help.(cover with a rag so it doesn't splatter all over the place though.)Hope this helps.
