Sputtering on right turns help please!
Sputtering on right turns help please!
After my car warms up it sputters and sometimes stalls whenever i turn the steering wheel to the right. Left hand turns and going straight i have no problems car runs like a champ. Its a 95 Z28 6spd with 14k on a jasper motor. Any ideas?? thanks

Is it when you are actually turning to the right? or is it just sitting there and turning the steering wheel right? Mine did this in my old car when i took right turns, when i pulled the engine and put it in my new one, the problem magically dissappeared. So i would have to say in my case it was something fuel related. (pump, something bad in the gas tank).
Re: Sputtering on right turns help please!
I have a '89 Dodge B250 van that did the SAME thing...except it was Left turns. It would stutter VERY badly and sometimes stalled during left turns only. I changed various things and finally got fed up and took it in. The repair shop was almost dumbfounded as well, but was up to the challenge.
I had the shop check EVERYTHING. Not sure how it could have affected left turns only, but they isolated the problem to a worn out timing belt!
After they changed it out, the problem disappeared...AND...I got back my "just-out-of-the-factory power.

See if the battery is loose and maybe hitting something if it moves around.
Look near the tie rods and see if there are any wires that may be getting pinched or pulled when the wheel is turned. Check near the steering column universal joints as well.
Get a fuel pressure gage with a hose and tape it to the windshield to see if it drops when the problem shows up. Keep an eye on the volt meter as well.
