Springs for 503cam install

Started pulling the motor last night, I need to know what springs I need for a 503cam, and any other components that may be needed. Roller rockers are already on list (1.6)
Also, is the only timing chain for the lt1 350$~?

Thanks, will have pictures up sometime for you guys to see.

I had CC 987 springs installed for my 503 cam. The heads need to be machined for them though. I believe they make a drop in beehive spring now. I would just call comp cams since you are using their cam.

Good idea, hopefully the beehive is a drop in.

NOOOOOO dont use the comp springs!!!! They are breaking left and right because of poor material!!! You can use PAC 1218s or even go with the Crane 10308 kit like i did.

the 1218s are a drop in and from what I have read are very good springs. Just make sure the installed height is between 1.75 and 1.78" and your good to go.

Dude Comp fixed that problem about 6 months ago. And if you are still worried just don't use any 918's with a blue stripe. So the comps aren't a bad spring, but I'd still go with the pac 1218's.

Lots of springs will work for you. I would start with the springs from the cam card
as recommended by Comp. The main thing for you to decide is single or dual springs.
I used to run beehives now I run a dual spring, it's just personal preference. The search
function is your friend, especially with the springs mentioned so far.

The 10308s are what I ran in my car with the 503, they are a dual spring and are a drop in for the LT1 and are a KIT that comes with everything needed to install them.

The comp 918 problems still exist. There are MULTIPLE threads around about them.

no problems with my 918s, my personal opinion is the installation has to be right and the height has to be right for the 918 to perform correctly. I had the 918s put on my heads at the machine shop and with all the hardware I bought for the 918 to LT1 install I was .050 off and the install height was wrong. 918s need an install height of 1.78 so I needed .050 over locks. Hope this clears up some of the 918 problems. Who knows I may still have the 918 problem but I always thought it was the install height problem.

Not trying to stick up for comp, but they switched over to the new redesigned beehive a months ago. I have not heard of any issues with those. PAC makes a good spring from what I understand. ( I have not ran mine yet.)

unless you have had personal experience with Comp's springs breaking, stop bashing them - they resolved the problem a long time ago
