Spring & Rocker arm question?

I gathering parts to do a cam install. XE230/236 I bought the kit from CMotorports on the group purchase.

A head builder questioned my spring & rocker arm selection.
Comp Cams double springs - 987's
Comp Cams - Pro magnum Self aligining rockers.

Please give me your comments.

Just looking over your parts, the 987's do require machining to work and locators are recommended as well. The locators are about $30 or so and the machining is about $25. The locators are just a thick, hardened shim that goes between the spring and head and it centers itself on the guide and keeps the spring from "walking around".

Also the self aligning rockers, do they work well with those retainers and locks? You might post a question in the LT1 tech section and ask. I am not sure but I think with the retainers that work with those springs, there is less of the valve tip sticking up for the "self aligning" rocker to ride on. It might be fine, I am not sure.

I have a set of heads with the 987's on them sitting here and a set of the Crane gold SA rockers and they fit fine. I don't know how differant these rockers are compared to comps.
