spring retainers for 918's

What retainers and locks are needed for the 918's? Steel, not titanium.

I'm in the process of installing 918's on my car. I'm using comp cam retainer part number CC-795-16 and comp cam 10 degree locks part number 613-16.

Re: spring retainers for 918's

I'm in the process of ordering mine as well only I ordered the 611-16 locks.Whats the difference in the ones I ordered and the 613-16 locks.I saw that it said the 613-16's are without recess for lash cap.The ones I ordered (611-16) are with recess for lash cap. What does this mean and do I need to call and change my order?
Thanks,
JE

I'm not sure what that means. I called comp cams. Told them what retainer and springs I was using and asked them what locks I needed and that's what I ordered.

The lash caps as I understand it are used for solid cams applications were there is clearence between rocker and valve tip and it's used to reduce the wear on the valve tip. With hydraulic cams there's no lash. The locks lockes with the lash cap recess will work, but you wont be putting any cap in that recess.
The 918 are known as behive springs that require vrey small special retainers, the 978 are regular springs, completely different.

Re: spring retainers for 918's

I wonder about Comp's tech line sometimes. When I first called they said 918 spring with 795 retainers. Then I called back a week or so later and they told me 787 retainers with the 918 spring. So I decided to go with 10 deg locks and retainers(795) and they told me the locks I needed are the 611's.I don't know man,I think every person who answers the phone there has a different opinion about what you should get.
So my 611 locks will work with my 795 retainers I ordered?I hope so cause I done ordered?
Thanks,
JE

The 787's will also work, along with 648 locks. It's just a 7 degree setup vs. 10.
