SPOHN Torque Arm - more strain on the drivetrain?
SPOHN Torque Arm - more strain on the drivetrain?
Hey,
Just wondering if spohn torque arms add any strain on the transmission. Only reason I ask is because it moves the pivot point from the transmission to a brace located where teh driveshaft crossmember is.
any opinions?
thanks!

There has been much discussion about this TA over at LS1.com in the Auto-X/Road racing section. Here is just a recent discussion.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it would seem to me that by removing the uplift that the stock TA mount adds to the tailshaft of the tranny, you would be reducing the strain on both the tranny and the tranny mount with the Spohn mounted on the g-load brace pads.
The specter of doom raised regarding the floor being weak in that area is a red herring. The floor is reinforced and the pads distribute the load. No problems at the 800HP level on mine.

I don't have either one, but from the road racing guys that have had it, I don't think I would want it.
There have been numerous stories of problems with it over the years.
If I could afford a nice torque arm it would definitely be the LG Motorsports G2 TA for me.
