Splicing Wiring harness to extend O2's
Splicing Wiring harness to extend O2's
I'm switching over to a 94-95 computer/harness over my 93 computer right now. I have a set of jet hot long tubes and am going to need to extend the harness.
I've heard a lot about slowing the response of the O2 sensors if you splice an extension in rather than using a pre-made connector.. does anyone know if there is a problem in extending the actual harness (soldering) or should I just use a set of extensions. It'll save me the hassle and money if I can just extend the harness, but if the O2's will never work correctly after doing it I'll just order the damn extensions.

slowing response of the O2 sensors if you splice an extension in rather than using a pre-made connector an electrical urban myth!
Actually if you extend with quality wire and solder all joints on your o2's you will have less resistance that another set of connectors from extentions.

Extend the car's harness and not the harness made onto the O2s, themselves. The O2s get reference air through their wiring, so it is best not to disturb it.
