even with the gm847 and 3.23s, i have no problem spinning the tires in first. On a cool day, i can spin them in second and on a cold day, second gear wont even grip. I have z-rated cooper cobras, p245/50/16s, and they grip decent, on a sharp turn, the tire will hit the wheel well if the car is full of passengers, but the tire wont skid.

I had some trouble with them spinning last year so i invested in nitto DR's this year....and lemme say what a difference! Now i have to try very hard to burn em up and if they are warm it is IMPOSSIBLE.
My buddy has a few more mods than me, with 4.10's and spins like craziness, although he does have some ****ty Yokohoma'a. He easily spins through third if he's trying.
4.10's + DR's would be a wonderful thing I am thinking.

mine spins very easy at 30 mph in 2nd with 315 BFG kd's, but i think that may have something to do with my heads, cam, LT's, 3600 stall, 3.73's and some other small mods...

Yea, I was about to say... I can spin street tires through 3rd, but thats with a 383 and 420+ hp/tq.
It all depends on your setup. I know my car as a heads/cam car could BARELY spin out 1st with 275 nittos and a built suspension, but that was mainly to do with traction and a very peaky powerband.

i have a 95 z28 automatic 4l60e and with 2.73 gears no prob spinning from 15 miles hour and spins good into second too .96 lt1 tbbs bbk shorty headers aluminum drive shaft 2100 stall 245 50 16s .and putting 342s in next week and that will make abig differance car runs 13.9 at 100 miles an hour with the 2.73s .

The only time i can spin the tires is when i launch at 2500 RPM's and hard shifting into second only chirps the tires. 2.73's are awesome! I wouldint give mine up for the world.

I believe weather has a lot to do with it as well. When I would floor my car in first during the winter it would break my 245's loose, and once i upgraded to 275's it broke those loose as well. Then once the weather warmed up and the humidity returned I coulnd't break loose unless I dumped the clutch. Although now that my header install is done 1st gear is nuts, the car will break loose and get completly sideways, and yesterday it was 91 degrees, so I can't wait to see how it feels in the winter

I have m6 and auto cars m6 lt1s and ls1 and auto lt1.
My auto 2.73 was pathetic stock..2.73 gears should be illegal.
I swapped in some 3.42 from m6 ls1.Carrier the whole center. Made for a simple swap and it woke up my auto huge. It can easily make me lose control
with my 235 16 inch cooper cobras.The narrow tires don't help much at all traction wise,makes for some fun though!
Now dropping it a 2800 stall on thursday and know no chance in heck will hook the car on street tires anymore after that. Pretty much have to get some nitto drags radials if ever want to hook up the car again on the street. Depends on what you want.Smoking rubber off every light or to actually hook and win. On the street where streetracing is not a good idea the spin thing is fine.
At the track some drag radials nittos or et streets or bfg drags are a necessity to run good numbers with even 3.23 and mild mods.And for m6 cars I like 3.73 gears but 4.10 are big fun. Just not that great if you have the big power adders. And again 4.10 on street tires forget winning races ..its just going to be smoke city!

Check my first post in this thread guys.....I couldnt spin my tires with my car in sig (minus headers and gears) Now 1 day after my 3.73 gear install......I punched it at 25 mph and damn near lost control!
The 2.73 gears I had were murdering me....now its on to stall next and I for sure am getting drag radials....cause my dr's in the sig are just about shot.
