Speed Limiter

I just did a search on this since I am fairly new to this car and board, as my car cuts out at 90! I checked my RPO codes and my car came with the QLC 245 tires and 3.23 gears. Also the speedometer reads wrong and has the 150 speedo. Me and my brother counted the gears (without taking the cover off) and it looks like someone either put in 3.42 or changed the whole rear. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of a limiter on a speed rated tire car or not. I am sure the gears are making the limiter come in too soon but I just thought this was odd. Thanks

Re: Speed Limiter

have madz28 tune your PCM, he kill the limiter and fix the speedo error.

Re: Speed Limiter

Higher ratio gears will cause the car to be driving slower than the speed sensor
(which drives the speedo and speed limiter) thinks it is going.
If someone installed gears in the car and didn't compensate in the PCM, that is exactly what will happen.

You'll need to find out specifically how far off the speedo is, use that to
figure out what gears you have and have the PCM tuned accordingly.
Since you have a 94, any of the mail-order or local shop PCM tuners can do that for you.

They can remove the limiter and give you a generic tune (good for a small HP increase) while they are at it.

Some of the tuners that come to mind are :
madz28.com
pcmforless.com
fastchip.com
