Speed Inc. : Yay or nay
Anyone actually had their car dyno tuned there? Are their tuners there any good? I may have retune my car later this summer and they are only like 15-20 min from me. Also how much do they charge for labor on regular installs?

I'm gonna go with nay, they did heads and cam on my buddy's car and mysteriously 60miles later a bearing decides to spin. We had several engine builders look at it and they all say that something got in the motor, most likely from the install. Speed inc denies it so my buddy get screwed into paying 1500 for a new shortblock. The used a screwdriver to put his timing gear on(nicked the hell out of it), nicked up his oil pump, gouged the hell out of the crank snout, his accesory outlets didn't work after he got it back, they ruined his groundeffects by lifting the car on em, and about 20 other things that I'm forgetting.

Why/how did you know that they used a screwdriver to put on the timing gear? Why would they? Its not like you have to pound them on. I think you're blaming "the" problems (I know they're not yours) on this company prematurely.
P.S. - I haven't heard anything bad about them till this post. So they must not be that bad.

[B]Dude, the extra horsepower from getting heads and a new cam done could have spun a bearing, on a questionable non rebuilt engine. As far as something getting in there from the install. Yes thats possible. But trust me it would have gone in less then 60 miles... I wouldn't have absorbed the cost of a new shortblock either, unless something fell off the heads that were put on, or the cam was messed up. I'm not trying to be an a$$. But bolt-ons add stress...
Yes, bolt ons do add stress but this kid supposedly had 30k miles on his car, so I doubt the motor was in bad enough shape to spin a bearing due to the extra power. Other than that I've had decent experiences with them. I bought a MAF sensor cheaper from them than from anywhere else. Whenever I've asked for a quote they've always replied quickly. As for actually getting work done I would go with a few places around here than Foreign Car Rebuilders in Palatine are DEFINITELY trustworthy to do ANY actual work to an engine. I know they specialize in foreign cars but their main man Matt has 20 years experience in domestics and has built plenty of 4th gen Camaros that are untouchable. My shorty headers I had installed at Mobile Extreme, which is on Colfax St. in Palatine. They charged me about 200 or 250 bucks, I can't really remember. Things like ignition and other crap which I want done right the first time I would only trust to Advanced Automotive.

All I have to say about Speed Inc. is they are by far the best shop I have been to. I have been going there for 2 years now and have spent well over $10,000 and have had them do almost all the installs except for what i have done myself. They have dynoed and tuned my car several times and i have had nothing but the best expierience. Everym shop can't be perfect all the time, but Speed Inc. will bend over backwards to help you out with anything they have done to make it right out of there pocket.
