Specific Alternator wiring info needed

One our fourth gen cars there is the output side of the alt that has the large wire.

Besides that we have the connector that has one wire. I need to know what exactly that wire does?

Is it the signal for the volts on the cluster?

Does it turn on the regulator inside of the alt if so how
Does it supply 12 volts in run?
Does it supply 12 volts in crank only?
Does it supply 12 volts constantly?

I tired ALL DATA and cannot pull up any wiring besides a generic layout that states it is for the indicator lamp but unpluging it still I still have a signal at the dash stating voltage.

On my car I cannot get anything from the wire whether the car is in crank, run or off. Stumped completely. Is it fused, I tested all my fuses in and out the car with a test light and cannot find a dead on that would relate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Cancel that found the problem as I was searching for a possible fusible link.

I was ohming out sections and found a break in the wire

For future reference the wire is live when the key is in the run position.
