specialty tools required

Are there any specialty tools req for a cam install that i am over looking?

harmonic balancer puller
fuel line disco
3 jaw puller (have)
Valve spring compressor tool

Is the specialty torx bolt needed for the opti, or is that jsut if your disassembling the opti?

Where is the best autosupply stuff to borrow stuff from? You just need to give them a deposit for the price of the tool right?

Just trying to make final preperations for the surgury.
TIA,
brent

You might wanna get some allthread rod for reinstalling the crank hub.....that way you don't risk stripping the threads in the crank or on the crank bolt. Also you need something to put air in the cylinders when pulling the valvetrain. The torx is only for taking the opti apart too....and don't forget copper rtv for the intake.

You will need a torx bit to remove the cam retaining plate.

Shoebox's guide inlcudes tools and misc stuff you'll need for the job. Check the upper right hand box on the site. VERY well done guide, btw.

I have a full assortment of torx bits from owning jeeps in the past. Apparently the one of the opti(that i don't need to remove) is actually a male torx bit or something screwy. Thats what i was worried about but since it doesn't need to come apart thats solved.

Yes shoebox is the MAN. I did look that over, but even the best guides out there sometimes take soemthing for granted. Sorry for not putting 100% faith in God, errrr i mean shoebox
