Spec III or Spec IV Clutch
Spec III or Spec IV Clutch
After reading though everyone's post, I am concerned about the chatter and about the Spec III blowing up. I read that the Spec III has been redesigned (New Stage 3 X-pad design features Ceramic-Carbon based puck facings. The new pads allow the streetability of carbon but offers the performance of ceramic.) I was wondering if people where still having the same problems with chatter and the disintegration.
Also, how is the Stage IV, it seems like it is recommended only for race applications (Stages 1-3 recommended for street/strip Stages 4-5 Race only. From lmperformance website).
My new heads/cam are forthcoming and I am not sure the stock clutch will last that long.
Everone seems to like the street twin but it is so darn expensive and I am not sure I really need it.
Anybody, advise/opinions?
Thanks

Re: Spec III or Spec IV Clutch
ive only driven my stage4 a couple times now, but it doesnt seem all that bad, i dont hear any chatter yet, but ive only got about 50 miles on it.
the engagement is rough though......i definetly wouldnt wanna get caught in traffic with it, or any stop-n-go daily driving.

Re: Spec III or Spec IV Clutch
i have the spec stage 3 for my daily driver. its real grabby, but i got used to it and its not a problem at all. (its fun watching other people who know stick try and drive it, almost everyone kills it at first) on my next one, i think im gonna try the stage 4 because i hear it feels the same but doesnt have the springs so its stronger.
