Sparks flying, car wouldn't stop- what happened?

I am having a problem with my car, not exactly LT1 tech but I didn't know where else to ask.

Basically my front brakes SUCK, they fade to where they won't even activate ABS in the rain after about 3 hard stops. My front wheels get quite hot even after a calm, chauffeur-like drive.

This has been happening for a while, I have recently put new pads on and that did not help(cheapo pads, I think it's worse actually). Then the other day I was driving to work on a nice straightaway in the middle of the country, tried coming to a hard stop from 100mph and I see sparks flying from my LF wheel area and the car did not stop where it was supposed to...

I suspect the cheap pads, but I can't imagine why they would spark. Someone from work suggested my wheel bearings could be going off- but wouldn't I have other telltale signs like annoying squeeks(I've had them start going bad before and thats what happened).

I have all the parts for the C5 brake upgrade and would be happy knowing it's just a brake problem because it would be fixed shortly, however I do not want to go into the upgrade it it could be something else that I should fix first...

Any help would be appreciated!

sounds to me like you have some caliper issues...something bent down there? Did you replace the caliper pins when you replaced the pads? They could be locking up on you.

Do the C5 upgrade and don't look back, but I would buy new wheel hubs to be safe. Pull and push on them in and out on its axis. It shouldnt move much.

I just went out and pulled and pushed the LS hub and that thing does not move at all. I didn't replace the caliper pins b/c I was going to upgrade shortly anyway- the only reason I changed pads is because it was almost metal on metal. It felt like the calipers were sliding freely though. Anyway I think I'm going to go ahead with the C5 upgrade ASAP.

I had to change my rubber brake lines over to steel braided ones and never had my brakes stick again. Maybe your brake lines could be bad.... JMO....good luck!!
