Sparkplug wires and routing

I have my plug wires routed on the valve covers and on teh pasender side, they are routed semi close to teh altinator. Can the altinator cause issues with spark which can cause misfires? I have 8mm tailors and I really dont think that with the thick insulation teh spark could jump from one wire to another unless there is a break in a wire, and I have checked all and there is no break that I can see. The wires are one year old and I made the ends myself....My plugs are autolite a106's, gapped at .50 with 500 miles on them....and they are clean as new out of the box....is this normal?

one other question, using 8mm wires and them touching the valve covers....can this be an issue? I know that teh valve covers get hot, but hot enough to effect the spark in the plugwire?

Re: Sparkplug wires and routing

the wires touching each other or the valve cover shouldnt be a problem at all except inthe instance that the contact has caused them to wear through exposing the inside wire. so if they look prefect, theyre prolly not crossfiring. you can always due a simple couple tests to see if you can see them arcing. first try watching the eng. run while its dark outside. the spark will create a light source, and be pretty easy to see in teh darck. the other way is put some salt in a spray bottle filled with water, and mist the wires. this will alot of times uncover a crossfire or arc if the wires are grounding out. notice I said "mist" not soak. big diff. just a very light mist droping on the wired is all it'll take. slowly with the eng. running, go over all the wires listening for the eng. to start to misfire.
good luck
