Spark Plugs & Wires????

OK, I have had nothing but problems with plugwires since I rebuilt the engine and put headers on...
Granted, I had to opt for the 'cheaper headers' (meaning not-coated); but still, what I have been going through is ludicrous....
1-Brand new set of MSD wires run in the stock position = Burnt through after two days....
2-Brand new EliteSparkPlugs "with heat shield covered wires"... Which were defective and arced all over the place..
3-Replacement set of EliteSparkPlugs (after they "lost" my replacment order, and had to wait almost 3weeks! And then was sent wires smaller (mm) than my original order)that are now 'worn out' after only a couple of months (leaking/arcing to a header at the boot)...

So now I am stuck... What should I go with for an OVC set of wires? I don't want EliteSparkPlugs, and I would prefer not to make my own.. So what else is available? Anything? I am not sure about the Delteq from what I have read, and it is damn expensive!

Thx!

I just put on Elite wire OTVC, so I hope I have better luck than you did. I have heard god things about the Moroso wires, but they're pricey. Do you have the wires resting directly on the headers? I just cant understand how they would continuously keep burning up.

Re: Spark Plugs & Wires????

I had extremely bad problems with my heads/headers combo. Burning wires and boots... Finally I got it right. My formula:
- Taylor 11mm wires, or Moroso Blue ones
- woven Heat Sleeves ( DEI-010504 or simular)
- For one plug boot, which were _touching_ header i used shorty Accel spark plug and ceramic spark plug boot (JAC-400238 set of 8, I got set of 4 - JAC-400234, needed only one)

six month, zero problems, everything like new.

I hope it helps

Thx for the ideas! None of mine are/were touching the headers. When running the wires through the motor mounts, which set of wires did you get (length, or part number)? Hey Dee, maybe I can check yours out at a Norcal GTG... And/or do you have any pics?

Please send us your info though PM (need you name + phone # ).
Your wires are under warrantee and will be replaced free of charge.
There could be anther problem with your set up. I can not see how you have gone through two sets of wires in such a short period of time Does not make any sense. I will have Jim call you first thing in the morning to see what we can do to help. Also can you send pictures of your set up ?

It sucks. I had to wait almost 2 months to get my wires.
