spark plugs ( heat range)
spark plugs ( heat range)
should I use a colder plug for the increased compression (11.4) ? but I have some oil ( think it's from the valve guides) could I use a hotter plug to help burn the oil in the combustion chamber's(from the leaky valve guides) good idea or not , thinking on using bosch platinums thanks
Yes with a higher compression ratio, a colder plug would be a good choice. But with oil entering the combustion chamber a hotter plug is better. Decissions, decissions, decissions. What's a person to do.
Let's review what you have in your signature.
94Z, 355 LW pistons,hot cam,ported (lightly) heads, 11.4 -1,ferra valves(stock size) crane double springs&intake,svo 24#,borla,mac headers,52mm tb, AFPR,ORP,1.6RR,UD pulley,M6,msd, FANS, EGR,AIR PUMP,home made cia,tunercat, 160 stat`13.24 @106 before cam,heads ,on street tires
It looks like you bored it and replaced the pistons but not the rods or the crank????? Unless you just left that out of your sig. The pistons you chose bumbed the stock CR up a point to 11.4:1. You put a cam in it and ported the stock heads and replaced the stock sized valves. You have an oil leak past the newly replaced valves???????
Do you have any programming changes made?
If all of the above is correct, I would leave the heat range alone. I would also change your heads to something that will take advantage of better breathing while at the same time getting rid of the oil leak. If you find a problem with fuel in the Florida area combined with high temp and humidity you may want to get heads that reduce the CR somewhat.

yes new ferra valves , 5 angle valve job , new teflon valve guide seals( some one told me that the teflon seals would warp and leak) after I had already put it together, and I have tunercat so I have done some changes to a base program from mustgofaster racing. stock crank stock rods (race preped)
