spark plugs?

Greetings,

As you know, I just purchased a 1994 Z28. My first project is to perform a good tuneup on the engine, and I'd like some of your opinions on spark plugs. I'm thinking AC Delco O.E. Platinums from Auto Zone, but I've heard talk of NGK TR55 plugs also being very good and very reliable. Which would you recommend as a good balance between performance and durability, because I'd sure like to not have to perform a plug swap for another 90k miles or so.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

If you want long lasting plugs, platium is the way to go. I'm using NGK TR55 because everybody is using them. Copper plugs will give better spark but wears out faster.

i would recommend the delcos anymore. i bought a set for a lot of money($50-60) and they had all the pucks off of them after only 10,000 miles of driving. screw that!!!! go with the NGKs, they are cheap (under $20) and they have been holding up good for me.

NGK TR55s here. $2 a piece. Dont go with AC Delco wires. There was a thread not too long ago where it was made known the dealer asks $92 for the wires. Dont know about anyone else but I wouldnt pay that . Go aftermarket with the wires, MSD, Taylor, Accel, Magnecor and even Moroso makes a set I believe. Expect to pay around $50 for wires.

Cant say I'd have much of a problem with doing plugs and wires because my Jet-Hot LTs make it soooooo much easier.

Thank you for your input! At the present, I'm leaning towards NGK TR-55 plugs and Taylor Spiro-Pro red 8mm plug wires. Is that a decent combination for a stock lt1?

I'm running NGK TR55GP's. They're the platinum version of the TR55 and are way cheaper than the delcos.

I'm funning ac delco platniums. Yes, they were 55 bucks, but my stock plugs had 75k and only one of them had a puck that fell off. Ive heard ngk copper plugs going bad in like 5k miles or less. If you want to do it once, go with the ac delco platniums. Wires are pretty much all the same, unless you have headers or somtin. I have headers and have accel 300+ race wires and I like them. Wires is personal preference. If you can find the ngk platniums go with those. I couldnt find those anywhere! Hope that helps. -Michael

Here's another vote for the TR55's. I won't use anything else.
